About this data
We matched 605,188 FSA food hygiene rated establishments against 5.7 million Companies House records. 41,074 food businesses were linked to their registered companies. Using the Companies House Persons with Significant Control register, we identified 1,560 individuals who control two or more food businesses through separate companies.
28 operators are flagged as HIGH or CRITICAL risk, meaning they have two or more food businesses rated 0, 1, or 2. All data is drawn from public sources: FSA FHRS ratings (updated daily) and Companies House records (monthly bulk data + daily PSC register).
Currently, food hygiene ratings follow the premises, not the operator. A director whose business was rated 0 can open a new business at a different address and start with no rating history. This dataset makes that pattern visible for the first time.
